With over 25 years on the UK music scene, Darran P has built a reputation for deep, diverse, and carefully curated selections. Starting out as a resident DJ at Sugar Nightclub in Leamington Spa, DJing alongside the likes of Kenny Hawkes, Terry Farley, Luke Solomon, Olle Abstract, and Rhythm Doctor.
After relocating to Leicester, Darran played a key role in introducing artists such as Âme, Benji B, Rick Wilhite, Domu, Aroop Roy, and Joy Orbison to the city. As a founding member of City Fly Records, he helped grow a local club night into a label releasing music from Byron The Aquarius, Andrés, Lay-Far, Simbad, Red Rack’em, and Kez YM. His work with City Fly has taken him across Europe, including Russia, Ireland, Estonia, Spain, Berlin, and to Dimensions Festival in Croatia.
As a producer, Darran’s tracks have appeared on labels including City Fly, Mysterious Works, Minor Notes, Flat White Records, and The Groove Stage. During lockdown, he collaborated with Pete Lawrence (Big Chill) to co-create World Harmony, an online festival that drew over 10,000 visitors from 20 countries. His chill-out set streamed alongside stages featuring selectors such as Matt Black (Ninja Tune), Chris Coco, and Mixmaster Morris.
Darran has recorded with Cal Gibson (The Secret Soul Society) under the alias Carrara, and with Visions of Light, producing tracks embraced by Balearic DJs. He has also remixed for Simon Sheldon’s Imps with DJ Dribbler (aka For Mankind) and Our Children via Freebooter Lounge. His productions have received support from Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6 Music and Tony Minvielle on Jazz FM. In 2023, DJ Mag North America named him an Emerging Artist to Watch.
Most recently, Darran has DJed at iconic venues including Café del Mar and Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, while regularly bringing his unique selections to Spiritland, London’s first and highly regarded listening bar.
