Introducing Modulation Syndicate: A Collision of Turntables, Synths, and Sampling Mangling
Modulation Syndicate is the latest project from seasoned DJs and producers Muzka and O-one. Built on a foundation of gritty beats and deep crates, Modulation Syndicate is where raw hip hop sensibilities collide with electronic synth-driven textures and sample-heavy exploration.
Muzka and O-one’s musical connection goes way back to their days as residents at Belfast’s iconic Thompsons Garage, where they cut their teeth spinning hip hop, funk, grime, and R&B to packed crowds each week in ‘Switch’. The chemistry behind the decks was undeniable, leading O-one to join The Plastic Surgeons, Muzka’s long-standing DJ collective known for pushing genre boundaries with 4 turntables, 2 mixers, samplers and a shit load of records.
Now, with Modulation Syndicate, the duo is diving even deeper into production, merging their vinyl roots with a futuristic approach to beat-making. Think MPC grooves soaked in analog warmth, razor-sharp scratches layered over lush pads, and intricate sample chops that nod to both the golden era and what’s next. “We want to take our love of electronic music and fuse it with old school hip hop and turntablism, bringing the energy of our dj sets to the studio.”
