Nate Thompson’s journey through sound began in Bangor, where a teenage appreciation of the psychedelic sounds of Pink Floyd, The Pretty Things and Steve Hillage collided with the energy of the early 90s rave scene.
A regular attendee at all-nighters in fields, barns and forests and at the emerging club scene in Tokyo Joe’s, Seventh Heaven and The Limelight, Nate’s sound is rooted in the foundations of the electronic music scene.
The combination of electronic production and experimental sounds led him to the emergence of Mo’ Wax and Bristol’s Trip Hop movement, forging a foundation in electronic music that is both deep and atmospheric with influences of dub, jazz and soul.
After making his mark with releases as Audiosyncracy on Fresco Records and Gamma Proforma, he moved to London where he focuses on his Sonntag Sounds (Music for Sundays) series on Mixcloud and regular vinyl sets at The Wood Street Bear, in Walthamstow, alongside trips home where he has played at The Menagerie, The Bullitt Hotel, The Courthouse and General Merchants.
