Cala Sola is the new project from DJ, designer and producer Darran P. Made in Leicester, UK during a heatwave, dreaming of lazy days on the White Isle.

Sense Pressa Avui, is the debut release from Cala Sola. Eight tracks built from ambient textures, downtempo rhythms and trip-hop
influences. Rooted in the details of everyday island life, Sense Pressa Avui marks Darran’s return to his Ibizan-influenced sound, following his previous collaboration with Belfast’s Visions of Light on the mini-LP Penken, which received support from Ibiza Sonica, Music For
Dreams and tastemakers across Europe.

The record blends warm synths, field recordings, understated percussion and melodic arrangements, combining organic instrumentation with electronic production. “Sense Pressa Avui came from wanting to capture the slower moments that have always drawn me back to Ibiza. It’s a record about atmosphere, memory and the feeling of time moving at a different pace.”

For more than 25 years, Darran P has been a consistent figure within the UK’s underground music scene. Known for his wide-ranging selections, his DJ sets are guided by curiosity rather than genre, spanning jazz, soul, funk, disco, boogie, house, techno, broken beat, Afro-Latin rhythms, downtempo, ambient, electronica and experimental sounds.

As a founding member of the deep house label City Fly Records, Darran helped transform a Leicester club night into an internationally respected record label, championing artists including Byron The Aquarius, Andres, Lay-Far, Simbad, Red Rack’em and Kez YM. The label opened the door to DJ appearances across Europe, including Dimensions Festival in Croatia, alongside guest sets in Germany, Russia, Estonia, Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain.

His connection with Ibiza spans more than 30 years and has become a lasting influence on both his DJing and production work. During that time, he has played at some of the islands most respected venues including Pikes, Word of Mouth and Café del Mar and is currently in
his sixth year as a regular selector at London’s Spiritland in King’s Cross.

As a producer, his music has been released on City Fly, Mysterious Works, Minor Notes, The Groove Stage, Flat White Records and The Freebooter Lounge, receiving support from Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6 Music, Tony Minvielle on Jazz FM and selectors across Europe.
He was also highlighted by DJ Mag North America as an emerging artist to watch.
